The T-Shirt Tell-All

prescriptionkillWearing what we all feel! The back of this T- Shirt tells America’s prescription drug orbit perfectly.  Around-and-Around we go popping pills in hope that we feel better, recover and get relief from an illness or injury.

However, the side-effects…as we all know from the many commercials on network television…are usually worse than the initial symptom! Thus, creating a need for another pill to assist. Time + Money and worse – true disappointment and discouragement for those suffering in pain.

Did you know  The Washington Post last Fall reported that nearly 60 percent of Americans — the highest ever — are taking prescription drugs.  Not only that but most are shocked to learn the fact that while the U.S. accounts for only about 5 percent of the world’s population, Americans now consume 99 percent of the world’s Vicodin and 84 percent of its Oxycontin.* [The War on Opioids – 05.15.14]

Now, circling-back to the T-shirt, the photo was actually shared by Dr. Frank Lipman on his Facebook page.  Dr. Lipman is a pioneer and internationally recognized expert in the fields of Integrative and Functional Medicine.  He is also the founder and director of Eleven-Eleven Wellness Center in New York City.  Says Dr. Lipman,

This tshirt unfortunately is not that funny, it happens a lot!!

It is comforting that more doctors are taking an integrative approach to healing and medicine.  And encouraging their patients to try and discover new options of pain relief so that they don’t have to depend on prescription drugs, risking side effects and addiction.

And if our T-Shirt could talk….!Shirt
